Patent Leather Shoes is an energetic rock chart for young jazz ensemble. It is dedicated to Bob Howard (music director, Rossland Secondary School, Rossland, British Columbia, Canada), who roomed with the composer for three years during their undergraduate days in the late 1970’s at the University of Western Ontario. A very accessible improvisation section is followed by an exciting series of short easy drum breaks. Rhythm parts are fully notated. Written ranges: trumpet G5, trombone F4.
(Instrumentation: AATTB saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, guitar, bass, drums)
